A missed deadline. Credit taken for an idea that was not theirs. A coworker who is always late. Four realistic conflicts with paired role cards, built on DESC — Describe, Express, Specify, Consequences — a long-established assertiveness script rather than vague advice to talk it out.

Your student writes the script first, which is where the work happens: it is much harder to be vague on paper. Then they say it aloud while you play the other person from the role card.

It was written for two learners to pair up. At home it is better — an adult playing a defensive coworker is more realistic than a classmate trying not to laugh.
